Azeski at a Working Meeting with Etemi: Business Potential Exists, but Swift Action from the Administration Is Needed

26/06/2025

The President of the Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski, paid a working visit and held a meeting with Fatmir Etemi and Aco Duduloski, along with part of their team at Skopski Pazar AD Skopje. The meeting with Etemi and Duduloski—majority shareholders in Skopski Pazar and, individually, owners of ZSF KOM DOOEL and ONE CABLE FJ DOO (Fatmir Etemi), and Sovremen Dom (Aco Duduloski)—focused on current issues in the business sectors in which they operate.

An open discussion was held on the state of the construction sector, the business environment in which companies operate, conditions for conducting trade, and the opportunities and potential for exports in the metal, and electrical and electronics industries. They also addressed the shortage of skilled labor, which was highlighted as one of the key prerequisites for the effective functioning of companies. In his conversation with President Azeski, Etemi emphasized that there is indeed potential for business development in the sectors in which he operates through his companies, but there are also numerous obstacles that hinder operations and stall progress. Particular emphasis was placed on the slow issuance of building permits, the circumvention of legal regulations, and a visibly high level of the grey economy, which, as he pointed out, primarily harms the state due to reduced tax revenue in the budget.

It was jointly concluded that the economy must be a priority in national policymaking, and that only through economic activity can GDP growth, a better business environment, and improved standard of living be expected.

At the meeting, President Azeski stressed that the Chamber is focused on three key priorities for the country’s economic development: building an education system tailored to the needs of business, providing concrete support for exports through direct instruments and measures backed by the state budget, and improving regional cooperation as a foundation for accelerating EU integration processes. Equally important are the Chamber's strategic goals: combating corruption and the grey economy, rapid construction of gas infrastrucutre, and regulating state-business relations in a way that does not harm the private sector but contributes to the public good.

The four companies led by Etemi employ more than 200 people, generated over €22 million in turnover last year, and engage other businesses from various sectors as clients and partners.
