International trade volume of Macedonia, January - July 2012
According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia in the period January-July 2012 was 2 285 509 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 3 705 101 thousand US dollars. Import coverage by export was 61.7%. The trade deficit in the period January-July 2012 was 1 419 592 thousand US dollars.
The trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ferro-nickel, petroleum oil preparations, iron and steel products (flat-rolled products) and clothes. In the imports, the most significant products are platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, the crude petroleum oils, natural gas, in the gaseous state and electricity >>>

Republic of Macedonia - Economic overview
Macedonia is a small economy with a gross domestic product (GDP) of about $9.8 billion (2011 est.), representing about 0.01% of the total world output. It is an open economy, highly integrated into international trade, with a total trade-to-GDP ratio of 95.9% at the end of 2010. Macedonia EU integration in 'new phase':
The EU commissioner for enlargement Stefan Fuele said on Thursday Macedonia had taken a new step on the road to Europe which will "inevitably" lead to the opening of accession talks.

Import coverage by export was 63.6%. The trade deficit in the period January-December 2011 was 2 551 876 thousand US dollars.>>>

SEVERE COMPETITION IN THE MARKETS,
COMPETITIVENESS THE MOST POWERFUL “WEAPON” 
 In the Republic of Macedonia the average reduction of tariffs is by 2.4% - (Law on Customs Tariff for 2012, Official Gazette of RM No.183/2011). Customs duties on more goods from January 1st, 2012 are falling from 8.9% to 6.5%. Reduction is in line with the undertaken obligations from the Protocol of Accession of the Republic of Macedonia to the World Trade Organization and is also the last cut in this regard. There is reduction in liquid soaps, surface active agents, detergents and some plastic products such as tubes, foils, floor plastic coverings, etc.  >>>

Republic of Macedonia has ratified the Amendment on Protocol 2 of the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Turkey 
The amendment of the Protocol enables in the products produced in the Republic of Macedonia to be included insufficiently processed or manufactured materials with origin from Republic of Turkey, EC or any other country from the EU stabilization and association process, if they have concluded free trade agreements with Republic of Turkey. Accession Partnership with Republic of Macedonia
The Accession Partnership – an instrument of the stabilisation and association process – is intended to provide additional, tailored support to the Government of the Macedonia with a view to helping the country, which is a candidate for accession to the EU, in its preparations for future membership.
