Final conference of the Disabled Employment Center- STRENGTHENING THE CAPACITIES OF THE BUSINESS-SECTOR FOR THE INCLUSION OF THE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY IN THE LABOR PROCESS- VIA PROGRAMS THE PREPARATION OF THE DISABLED PEOPLE FOR EMPLOYMENT SHOULD BE CONTINUED


The Economic Chamber of Macedonia and Polio Plus- movement against disability completed the realization of the joint Project "Disabled People Employment Center". This project is part of the Operational program for the development of human resources 2007-2013- IPA.

 

The main objective of the Project was the inclusion of the disabled people in the labor market via improving their skills, education and qualifications that would contribute to their full integration in the society.

The Economic Chamber of Macedonia, in cooperation with "Polio Plus- movement against disability" created tools within the Project:  "Disabled People Employment Center" that were of assistance of the disabled people to be actively involved in the labor market and to be integrated in the society.

 

At the conference, that took place on 22.12.2017 in Skopje, Elena Milevska Shtrbevska, MSc., director of operations in the Economic Chamber of Macedonia said that the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, in cooperation with the companies and in partnership with "Polio Plus" was directly involved in the implementation of the activities of the Project and via creating different analysis and concrete trainings they contributed to the improvement of the skills, education and qualifications of the disabled people that will contribute to their full integration in the society, as well as proper information and trainings provided to the companies that will help them in the decision making process regarding the employment of disabled people in the future.

- In the course of this year 8 trainings were held with the companies, 6 trainings with the disabled people, 9 persons had the possibility to be interns and to work directly in companies and in the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, while, at the same time, analysis were conducted and documents and brochures were made that should serve as guidelines in the next period for the companies and for the disabled people- said Elena Milevska Shtrbevska, MSc.


 
Dushan Tomshikj, advisor in the Cabinet of the Minister of Labor and Social Policy said that the Ministry  of Labor and Social Policy supports the initiative of the Disabled People Employment Center to continue with its work, but solutions should be found so that it can function in the future. Furthermore, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy will introduce a professional rehabilitation of the disabled people.

Biljana Jovanovska, acting director of the Employment Agency of the Republic of Macedonia, said that the Agency set apart means for inclusion of the disabled people. So, in the past period 230 people were employed with the money of the Special fund and 70 persons were employed from the Operational program for the disabled people.

Elena Kochoska, program manager of "Polio-Plus", partner-organization of this project, said that the Republic of Macedonia sets apart means for employing disabled people and that all are working for this to happen and the creators of this initiative are the disabled people. According to Kochoska, they will be included via an agreement between the business community and the disabled people, while the role of the state is to be a guarantee that this agreement will be realized via this Disabled People Employment Center and there should be conditions for it to be sustainable with the help of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, and not only with the help of projects.

Jadranka Ariankovska, project manager within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia was moderator at the event and explained the process of the preparation of the companies when employing disabled people in order for them to open their doors for full and effective inclusion of the disabled people in the labor processes.

- This aim will be achieved by upgrading the skills, promoting the education and qualification of the disabled people, and via developing the social services in the community that will support the full integration of the disabled people in the open labor market and in the society as a whole- said Ariznkovska.

Brankica Dimitrovska, coordinator of the Disabled People Employment Center talked about the work of the Center that functions within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia and said that the Center is an innovative solution with the aim to promote and strengthen the employability of the disabled people and to increase their capacities for their promotion in the professional career and to serve as a bridge between the disabled people who want to increase their employability and the companies, via 5 PROGRAMS prepared in accordance to the individual needs, having into consideration the limitations and disabilities of the disabled people that are facing the open labor market. Four of these programs are dedicated to disabled people and the fifth program is dedicated to companies:

1.  Program for preparation for employment- via promoting the knowledge and skills of the disabled people, their chances for high quality and decent employment are increased;
2. Program for support in the process of job seeking- to increase the self-confidence, the communication and writing skills of the disabled people and to improve the self-representation of the disabled people in front of the potential employers;
3.  Entrepreneurship program- via developing the capacities and support in the process of self-employment of disabled people;
4. Volunteering program- by acquiring practical knowledge and skills in the partner companies, as well as in the Center;
5.  With the Business program companies were targeted that are ready and willing to employ disabled people or have already employed disabled people.

-  It was insisted on opening labor processes for the disabled people in the interested companies because we are aware that the knowledge and the skills are very important for the disabled people, as much as sensibility of the companies and their management teams is important for a complete and effective inclusion of the disabled people.
- The Center has already been created and functions like a READY MADE PRODUCT and it would be a damage for this Center to stop working now when the Project has ended and I sincerely hope hat the state, i.e. the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, together with the Employment Agency of the Republic of Macedonia and the other stakeholders will find a way to financially support it so that we can continue with our work because this is the only way in which we are going to be useful for the society- said Brankica Dimitrovska.

Certificates for successful involvement of the disabled people were given to those who were actively involved in trainings, workshops and English language and computer skills courses taught by the educational professors from "Semos" and "Litikom plus".

The main message at this final conference was that only by strengthening the capacities of the business sector, particularly via the strengthening of the capacity of the medium and high management in the companies and via constant support of companies offered to the disabled people, their inclusion in the working process will be provided.

This project is financed by the European Commission, it is implemented by the Ministry of Finances- Central Financing and Contracting Sector together with the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, as coordinator of the Project and "Polio Plus"- partner in the Project and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, as coordinator of the Social Inclusion Program.
