Banking Association

Financial System Stability is an Important Condition for Economic Development and Well-being

The Banking Association was established in 1970 as a professional form of organization and operation within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia. Members of this Association are financial organizations in the Republic of Macedonia - banks, securities companies, leasing companies, savings houses, investment funds management companies etc.

The Association is managed by its Management Board, whose Chair also acts as President of the Association. The Association also has a Vice President, who may chair the meetings of the Management Board upon authorization of the President. Mr. Kosta Mitrovski, Chairman of the Management Board and Executive Director of Universal Investment Bank - UNIBank AD Skopje has been appointed President of the Banking Association as of 18 March 2016.

The Association operates in line with the Rules of organization and general operation of the Banking Association.

On 1 July 2011, the Banking Association within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia became an associate member of the Brussels-based European Banking Federation ( - a success that yet again confirms the high-quality organization of the Republic of Macedonia's banking sector, and an invaluable asset that helps Macedonian banks stay on top of developments at European level and exchange view and experiences in this field.
Information about the Conference held on 19 September 2011, titled “The Banking Association within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia becomes associate member of the European Banking Federation - Presenting the Potential Advantages and Future Cooperation with the EBF” 
On 15 March, 2013, the World Consumer Rights Day, the President of the Banking Association, Mr. Gjorgji Jancevski, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Mr. Ance Trifunov, signed a Code of Ethical Conduct of banks and savings houses (pdf document available here). 
On 15 June, 2013, the Guarantee Facility of the project titled “Western Balkans Enterprise Development and Innovation” was presented before the Banking Association, an event that was also attended by the Vice PM in charge of economic affairs, Mr. Vladimir Pesevski. 
The Banking Association within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia hosted the 36th meeting of the European Banking Federation on 6-8 June 2013. Seven full and eight associate members of EBF attended the meeting. 
The first regional forum of governors, minister of finance and banking associations took place as part of Bankexpo 2013, focusing on challenges and possible solutions to the economic crisis.
